June 4, 2010 -- Anamika Veeramani came to Washington, DC and walked away tonight with the 2010 National Spelling Bee Trophy. The 14 year old did her share of spelling this week and the win came with the word 'Stromuhr'. Cool under pressure this fierce competitor took home the extra large trophy and the title of winner for 2010.
"I'm really, really, happy -- this is one of the best moments of my life,'' Anamika Veeramani said to the media "It was pretty intense.''
This isn't just about the trophy, there is a serious prize purse involved as well savings bonds, scholarships and books. Of course there is the bragging rights after beating out the competition which has to be priceless, but the $30,000 top prize can't hurt either.
Those who competed in the 2010 National Spelling Bee were all winners by many standards. While we think we can spell anything most adults wouldn't have been able to spell half the words required by the kids.
