Nolan Smith (born July 25, 1988, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland), is a junior guard for the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team. Smith is the son of the late Derek Smith, a former forward of NBA and University of Louisville fame. All-America honors as a high school senior in 2007. His career high at Duke is 24 points in a win over Charlotte in 2009. Beginning his sophomore year, he was named the starter at point guard for the Blue Devils, effectively making three-year starter (and team tri-captain) Greg Paulus a reserve. As of March 24, 2010, Smith was 16 points short of joining Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler as 600+ point scorers for 2009-10; in 2001-02, Jason Williams, Carlos Boozer and Mike Dunleavy accomplished that feat
